Shape Patterns – What shape comes next?

Using shapes to promote problem solving is a great way of sharpening spatial visualisation abilities in children. Shape Game 2.

In our Shape Patterns game in the Play School App, children are asked to guess the missing shape in the sequence. A child is presented with the idea through story and song, is then taken to a safe area to practice finding the missing shape and is then assessed through gameplay.

This game helps promote critical thinking by asking children to think about the relationship of objects to each other. You’ll have better problem solvers at the end of this exercise for sure!

You can follow up app play with a physical flashcard game, Cross the River, which promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills where children have to decipher sequences.
